GBP/USD Review – August 14

The GBP/USD currency pair traded again with low volatility on Thursday, which is absolutely unsurprising. Over the past eight days, total volatility exceeded 57 pips only once. Recall that for the pound sterling, 60 pips of volatility are roughly the same as 40 for the euro.

EUR/USD Review – August 14

The EUR/USD currency pair showed no notable movement on Thursday (as was the case on Wednesday, Tuesday, or Monday). It is enough to glance at the chart below to see that volatility remains low and the market is practically not reacting to what is happening in the world and the economy.

GBP/USD Review – August 13

The GBP/USD currency pair continued its upward movement on Wednesday. This time the reason for the US currency's decline was a rather bland US inflation report. Bland, but no less significant for that. Experts correctly guessed the July inflation figure, so the market reaction was not as strong as it could have been.

EUR/USD Review – August 13

The EUR/USD currency pair again moved very sluggishly on Wednesday. One should understand that "sluggish" on Monday and Tuesday is not the same as "sluggish" on Wednesday. If, during the first two days of the week, the EUR/USD pair showed a total volatility of 46 pips, then on Wednesday this indicator increased noticeably.

GBP/USD Review – August 12

The GBP/USD currency pair also did not show any notable moves on Tuesday, and the macroeconomic and fundamental backdrop was again absent. Thus, volatility was again low, and the market continues to ignore all of Donald Trump's statements regarding geopolitics.
